Welcome to KBS
KBS places the wellbeing and the intellectual development of each student at the heart of every lesson, every strategy, and every decision we make.
The school is built on the principle that students must learn to ask difficult questions. Our goal has been to develop responsible, open-minded young people capable of taking on the challenges of an unpredictable world. We have a shared culture of critical thinking and a deep sense of community. We aim to develop the self-confidence and imagination of our students enhanced by a bilingual education.
Through a rigorous, bilingual programme and innovative methods, we educate students to become responsible, creative and principled global citizens. We teach them to think critically and act ethically, to form and express their own opinions and respect those of others, to define their own life goals, and to make sense of and embrace change.
We strive to recruit and retain highly experienced international staff who take pride in the progress of every student.
The safe environment we have created celebrates the diversity of our families from all over the world and encourages exciting conversations across cultures.
With three languages skill (English, French and Kirundi) and to have been teaching Maths in Secondary schools in the UK for the last 23 years, I thought I shall come back to Burundi to share my rich and varied experience, knowledge and passion for education with my compatriots of Burundi. Being educated under the French system in Burundi and the British system in the UK provides me with a critical and balanced perspective of the weaknesses and benefits of the French and the English curriculum.
We are delighted to invite you to visit the school, and we look forward to welcoming you and your family.
With warm wishes,
Chantal Katihabwa Ndikumana
Founding Head of School
